About Me
Hello there! I’m Josh Crotty, currently pursuing an MSc in Mathematical Modelling & Machine Learning at University College Cork (UCC). I previously completed an undergraduate degree in Software Systems Development at SETU, where I built a strong foundation in software engineering, data science, and modern development practices.
My main interests centre around building scalable intelligent systems, particularly where data science, machine learning, and software engineering intersect. I have a strong interest in healthcare applications of AI, especially how data analysis and machine learning can contribute to solving meaningful problems.
I also enjoy technical writing and knowledge sharing, which is one of the motivations behind this blog. I regularly write about concepts I’m learning, projects I’m working on, and ideas around AI, software, and applied mathematics.
During my undergraduate final year, I developed a cloud based deep learning system for detecting signs of Alzheimer’s disease from MRI imaging. This work was recognised with the Sun Life Academic Award and the DCH Consulting Award for Charitable & Sustainable Thinking.
Looking ahead, I hope to move into industry or research & development within healthcare AI, contributing to systems that have real impact.
